Mining, with its toxic runoff and disruption of the landscape, has no place in or near the Grand Canyon. We’re working to undo the Bush administration’s open invitation to mining companies that want to operate as close as five miles away from the canyon rim.

Toxic mining moratorium extended.

Toxic mining has no place near the Grand Canyon. The Obama administration responded to calls from Environment Colorado and our allies and issued a temporary ban on new mining on more than 1 million acres surrounding the Grand Canyon. We’re pushing hard to make the ban permanent.
