Our forests: Worth more wild
A recent report by Environment Colorado, titled “Worth More Wild,” shows that drilling, mining and logging in our roadless forests could jeopardize the state’s massive outdoor recreation economy. The report found that hunting, fishing and wildlife-watching added more than $2.4 billion to Colorado’s economy in 2006.
“It’s no secret: Coloradans love spending time in the state’s forests and wilderness areas,” said Environment Colorado Preservation Associate Griffin Cottle. “But Coloradans also know how important these places are to our state’s economy. That’s why we need to ensure that our roadless forests get the protection they deserve.”
The U.S. Forest Service recently began a rulemaking process to decide the future of Colorado’s roadless forests. Visit our newsroom for the latest news.
