Sens. Udall and Bennet Introduce Bill for Wind Power and Thank Environment Colorado

Environment Colorado

Denver, CO – Last week, Colorado’s U.S. Senators Udall and Bennet joined a bipartisan group of five other senators in introducing the American Energy and Job Promotion Act, S. 2201, which extends the wind energy production tax credit for two years.  The production tax credit is currently set to expire at the end of this year.

Environment Colorado’s Field Organizer Bessie Schwarz issued the following statement in response:

“The wind industry is creating pollution-free energy and thousands of local jobs in Colorado and tens of thousands of across the country.  Extending the production tax credit for wind power is a critical step towards building a clean energy economy that will protect our environment and ensure a cleaner, healthier future for all Coloradans.  We applaud Senators Udall and Bennet and the bill’s other cosponsors for supporting the growth of the wind industry, and we call on Congress to pass this legislation as soon as possible.”

Senator Mark Udall thanked Environment Colorado and its supporters for their role:

“Thank you to Environment Colorado members for staying engaged and being a strong voice for Colorado energy jobs. Your responses were crucial to show that we’re not giving up on trying to pass this common-sense solution.”

Senator Michael Bennet said the following:

“Environment Colorado members have stepped up on behalf of wind energy and of Colorado, please stay engaged over the next few months while we work to extend this important tax credit.”
