Boulder, CO — Today Environment Colorado held a rally to recognize Rep. Jared Polis as an environmental champion. Rep Polis scored a perfect 100% on our federal scorecard.

“In just six months, Congress has undermined the Clean Water Act, paved the way for a public lands giveaway, and put polluter profits ahead of public health. This has been a productive legislative session for dirty industries, but a dangerous one for Colorado’s families and our environment,” said Garrett Garner-Wells, director of Environment Colorado. “Thankfully, Colorado has leaders like Rep. Jared Polis who speak up for crucial environmental protections.

Environment Colorado’s scorecard highlighted 11 House votes that affected the state’s land, water, and air. In addition to rolling back existing protections, multiple bills also prohibited agencies from enacting similar rules in the future.

“It is clearly and critically in our own interests to combat climate change and push to reduce our carbon footprint. Climate change has negative impacts on not only our health, but our economy and national security. Beyond that, I truly believe that we have a moral obligation to protect and preserve our environment for future generations. I will continue to champion the environment every way I can, and I am honored to be recognized for my efforts,” said Polis.

In addition to Rep. Polis, Senator Michael Bennet and Rep. Diana DeGette received perfect scores.
