Hitting the Pavement
By gclark - 2009-10-06 I hit the pavement last week, on the street and at peoples’ doorsteps, on campuses, and even in our international airport, talking solar power to the people of our state and all over the world. We are working to triple the amount solar power in our sunny state and we were out there telling people why.

ALL waterways are created equal! Right?
By gclark - 2009-09-22 I grew up on the simple principal forged into American history that all men and women are created equal. Throughout my years as an environmental organizer I have come to extend that golden rule to encompass all of nature’s gifts. I would like to proclaim that ALL waterways are created equal! Unfortunately, the Supreme Court of the United States doesn’t feel the same way.

By gclark - 2009-07-09 "'There's a point in time where hope and history rhyme.' I think we have now reached that [point] on the issue of energy and global warming." -- Congressman Ed Markey, quoting the poet Seamus Heaney, upon passage of the Waxman-Markey bill 11 days ago If you're like many of our members, you're probably wondering if Congressman Ed Markey is right.

The bill sets a solid cap on global warming pollution and establishes a sound framework to repower America on a clean energy foundation.

2009 Colorado Legislative Session
By gclark - 2009-05-14 Ah, thank god the session has ended! If you read Susan Greene's column in the Denver Post last week [http://www.denverpost.com/search/ci_12281752] you're probably groaning right now saying "oh great, one more person complaining about one of the greatest privileges that there is— actively participating in democracy." And yes, Greene has a point, but so do all of the lobbyists and lawmakers who streamed out of the capitol on Wednesday like high school students who finally passed finals... this was a tough session.

By Matt Garrington - 2008-04-03 Petty politics trumped reason and the environment today as House Bill 1165 was voted down on Wednesday (4/1) in the Colorado House Agriculture, Livestock, & Natural Resources Committee. Our legislature failed to lift the veil of secrecy that surrounds mining, and we're disappointed in those representatives who sided with the mining industry over Coloradans and our environment.
