Ditch Dirty Drilling
Colorado is in the middle of a record-setting oil and gas drilling boom that is threatening our drinking water and public health.
We have the right to know what toxic chemicals are being put into our air and water, and companies should keep an inventory of chemicals on file in case of public health emergencies caused by spills or accidents. We should also protect Colorado’s rivers and streams by creating a buffer around drinking water. Right now, the oil and gas industry is spending millions on a scare-tactic advertising campaign to convince Coloradans that new protections and other efforts will drive them out of the state.
Oil and gas drillers are making record profits. They can afford to do what's right and take steps to better protect our water, wildlife and communities. Through September 2009, the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission will be deliberating on new protections. Please email the commission and ask them to support and adopt strong protections for our drinking water, public health and communities.
