Background:

Matt Garrington is the Environment Colorado Field Director. His work includes building support in key legislative districts, working with the media, and broadening our activist base. His priority campaigns are forest preservation, rural economic development through renewable energy, and defense of national environmental protections. Garrington started working for the state PIRGs’ citizen outreach fundraising program in 1999, and later became a campus organizer for CoPIRG Student Chapters. Since then, he has also worked on ballot initiatives including Amendment 27, the Colorado campaign finance reform initiative and Amendment 37, the clean energy standard. In 2003 and 2004, before returning to Environment Colorado, Garrington served as field organizer and legislative aide for Colorado State Senator Brandon Shaffer.
